The Day Krista and Taylor Came to Visit

During their fall break this year, our niece Krista and nephew Taylor came to visit us from Utah. We were so excited to have them come and see us again, but Katelyn was sad when she realized that she still had to go to school and miss out on our daytime fun.

We spent one morning and afternoon hanging out in downtown Spokane. We went to see the Monroe Street bridge and the Spokane River Falls and then headed over to Riverfront park. Taylor went "running" with the Bloomsday sculpture and then we went down by the water to feed the ducks.

They were also very tame and we were definitely Krista and Taylor 10-16-08nmore afraid of them than they were of us. But Krista should have been afraid - one of the geese actually tried to bite her. It only got a hold of her pants, but that was a little bit too close for comfort. We were glad when we ran out of bread because we noticed that several of the big geese were sizing up Brooke - she probably looked like a snack to them.

Then we decided it was time for us to eat, so we found a nice grassy spot for our picnic. We had a fun lunch and then enjoyed watching Taylor feed the "Garbage Goat." Krista and I were both grateful that he didn't injure himself or break the goat in the process.

Another day we went to Coeur d'Alene and met up with Kyle at the Resort so they could try a "Gooey." They enjoyed the ice cream and Brooke was excited about the new cup she got.

I think Brooke and Katelyn were in heaven - they had two of their cousins there to play with and we did some of their favorite things. It doesn't get much better than the fire pit on a nice fall evening.

On their last day we went to Katelyn's soccer game, Taylor went to Cross Country practice with some of the youth in our neighborhood and then that evening we played some intense games of Settlers of Catan. It was so fun having them come to visit - we can't wait for their next trip to visit!

We love feeding the ducks, too... if only there just wasn't so much bird poop.

Brooke is so cute - almost potty training stage? She looks like Jack... not the panties, just the face.

Canada is beautiful.

Gosh, it's been so long since I've been to Spokane. It's quite the cool place!
