At the end of May, Emily got to go on her first airplane ride. Early that week, Grandma Hardy passed away at the age of 92, so the two of us made a quick trip to Utah so we could be there for her funeral.
Even though she weighs 20 pounds, the best method of transportation for her is in the Baby Bjorn. She can’t get into anything and she stays happy. A stroller doesn’t contain her for more than just a few minutes. So the Baby Bluetooth Bjorn gave me a nice hand’s free option even though I could barely walk the next day.
When we got to the airport, she thought everything was cool. riding the shuttle from the Park and Jet lot was also a hit. She was happy and smiled at everyone, but somewhere along the way, she decided she was tired of being friendly and started giving her admirers what we fondly refer to as “stink eye.” Her plan backfired though, because that look actually got her even more attention.
Once we were at our gate, she enjoyed playing at the toy table. I however, did not enjoy it when she decided to lick the bars or when she tried to taste the painted wooden blocks on the bars.
Emily thought the seats on the plane were great and she enjoyed the view too. During take-off she kept saying “Wheeee! Wheeee!”
She loved eating the salad we bought in the airport for lunch and thought the view of Mt. Rainier was fantastic.
She enjoyed working on her puzzle and was a big fan of the in flight beverage service too.
She watched a few minutes of a Baby Einstein show while she ate some pretzels and wrapped up the flight by kicking back with her bottle just before it was time to land.
She did a great job traveling and everyone was so happy to have her there to brighten our spirits even though she dished out her fair share of “stink eye.”

This whole post cracked me up. Every picture is awesome!
Great post! She is absolutely darling. BTW, how on earth did you get her to eat salad? My 7 year old won't even eat it, let alone my 1 year old. You deserve "mother of the year" for that and everything else you do so well!
