The Day Katelyn Completed Phase One

Once upon a time, there was a sweet, almost 8 year girl who started “phase one” of her orthodontic treatment.  She was diligent about making sure we did all of the required key turns for her expander and super brave about wearing her Hannibal Lecter facial mask.  She was upbeat about getting braces on her top front teeth and never complained throughout the entire process.

 

 

 

After 18 months, our orthodontist in shining armor said that phase one was complete and Katelyn’s braces would be coming off.  Her royal subjects were excited to accompany her highness for this exciting event.  They watched in amazement (and horror) as Katelyn successfully finished phase one.  

As you can see, the results have been truly amazing.  Katelyn loves that her teeth aren’t “so scary” anymore and she is a big fan of having her teeth actually assist her when it comes to chewing her food.  To celebrate, we went to Subway for lunch and then took her to pick out some bubble gum and laffy taffy.  Oh how she’s missed her favorite chewy and sticky foods.

Even though phase two (a full set of braces) is still on the horizon, we are excited for Katelyn and that she has come this far already in her orthodontic journey.  Her orthodontist has done an amazing job helping her and I know she and her new bite will live happily ever after.  I am also pretty sure I saw her orthodontist ride into the sunset on a sweet jet ski  he affectionately named “Thanks Hansens!”  To be continued…
