The Day Emily Turned Three

 

Emily started off her birthday morning with lots of birthday wishes from people who love her so much.  Some wishes were on the phone, some were on FaceTime and some were in person.  She loved every birthday wish and was extra happy that we had our dear friends The Hoppers staying with us to celebrate her special day.

 

As soon as everyone was ready, we headed to McDonald’s (per the birthday girls request), for her favorite breakfast.

After breakfast we headed downtown for some birthday fun.  We used Emily’s birthday and the Hopper’s visit as an excuse for Katelyn and Brooke to take the day off so they could join our birthday adventure.

We started of at Mobius kids and everyone had a blast playing together.

Emily and Dylan loved the garden box.  Emily would plant a Dylan seed, water him and we would watch him grown.  It was so cute and we loved watching them together.

Next we took a lunch break and Emily was in food court heaven with her subway lunch surround by her buddies.

After the crew was refueled and Chip, Monika and I had consumed a sufficient amount of diet coke, we headed to Mobius Science for some more fun.

They loved checking out and petting all of the critters.  Emily preferred to just pose next to them.

They all loved playing with the wind tunnel and working on the trajectory of their snow cone cup planes.  Emily liked it blowing on her face – it reminded me of a dog hanging her head out the car window on the Interstate.

The kids loved the music cube and the experiments upstairs.  It is so fun going their with such well behaved and curious kids.

 

Once we were done with Mobius, we headed outside and for some fun and Riverfront Park.  Then we hauled our worn out crew home.

The birthday girl was so tired, so she took a nap on the ride home.

After her nap it was time for dinner.  Emily picked broccoli and Penne Rustica.  She LOVES broccoli and everyone else loved her pasta choice.

Next up it was time for presents and the birthday girl assumed her position in her throne.  She got that princess chair from us during her Saturday celebration and did not move out of it the entire time.  She loved it!  From her throne, she opened her gifts and she was super excited about EVERYTHING! 

 

 

After presents, it was time for cake.  This year Emily requested a rainbow princess cake.  Since we had our good friends visiting, I decided to outsource it this year and that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.  Instead of worrying about a cake, we just had fun with everyone and really celebrated.

She loved being celebrated and having everyone sing to her. 

I loved watching her sweet face… you could almost see the moment she “turned” three… she’s getting so big.

We were so grateful to have the Hopper clan in town to celebrate with us.  It is so hard being away from dear friends – having them there to celebrate with us was extra special.

I was also grateful that Chip and Monika were able to cut the cake so that everyone got some of the highly coveted rainbow.

Emily ended the evening playing with everyone and her new toys.

We finished things up by reading our Birthday book “Happy Birthday to You!” by Dr. Seuss.  We love celebrating our kids, especially on their birthdays.  I enjoyed every minute of Emily’s big day and I know she did as well.
