The Day Emily Decided to “Take Five”

Emily looking in their easter bags 4-9-11aEmily still loves to cruise around on the furniture and crawls so fast it is scary, but she just doesn’t care much about walking. Every once in a while she will hold on to our hands and walk but it usually doesn’t last long and it is definitely not her preference.  Katelyn and Brooke on the other hand loved it and I am certain that some of my back troubles can be pinned on their pre-walking days.

Emily on walking time 4-9-11aEmily does like to “free stand” though and loves to preform that trick for her adoring sisters.  So we were hanging out in Katelyn and Brooke’s room admiring their new pets (that’s a post coming soon) and Emily stood up in the center of the floor to get some of the attention back on her.  It worked, but she immediately lost her balance and fell forward a little bit.  She caught herself and I reached across and held out my hand so she could get back up without too much trouble.  Once she was back up, I held out my hands and said “Come here Baby.”  And she did.  Out of the blue, she took five very deliberate steps forward.  That is when Katelyn started screaming with excitement and that was the end of it.  She fell down and was done with that trick.  We tried to recreate the event and get some video and/or photos of her in action, but now she pretends like her legs are made of Jell-o.

Of course she wasn't going to do it for the camera! She knows once everyone sees it, it'll no longer be special. Emily is a smart cookie--she's going to make every step count!
