On March 28, 2011 our little Emily celebrated her 1st birthday. At 12 months old, she weighed in at 19 pounds 13 ounces and has more personality than you would think possible for such a tiny person.
During March she got her top two front teeth for a grand total of four chompers. She loves to use those teeth too. She is such a good eater and loves to eat whatever we eat. One night I made broccoli chicken casserole and decided to puree it for her so she could get all the flavors at once without choking. She absolutely loved it but it looked DISGUSTING! Since I used my stick blender to puree it, Katelyn and Brooke called it her chicken smoothie. Blech She loves lots of other foods, but if you are what you eat, then Emily would definitely be a Fruit Loop. She loves those things and since they are fortified I don’t think it is too terrible, but that’s because she is a third child. She also tried some of Grandma Carol’s raspberry jam – she loved it and we loved her cute kissy lips after she ate it.
She still loves to free stand but definitely prefers to cruise or crawl rather than do very much assisted walking. She is independent to the bone. She loves to play with her sisters and is happy as long as she is around them and feels like she is part of the fun. She especially loves to dance and sing with them. When I took her to get her pictures taken, she kept doing ballet moves while holding onto the props. She was posing just like her sisters do.
This month she really started talking… we are still “Mama” and “Da da da da” but my favorite is when she says “Thank you.” She will keep saying it too until you acknowledge her politeness. She also says wow, go, uh-oh, “bow” (show), baby, no and “eek boo” (peek-a-boo). It is so fun when they start being little parrots, everything sounds cute when it comes out of a little body with a tiny cute voice.
One of her favorite activities is to play on her car with her sisters. She started by pushing it and walking behind it, but soon she discovered that she can just sit on it and one sister will push her while they “chase” the other sister. Everyone loves this game and so far there haven’t been any injuries so I love it too.
Emily loves playing dollhouse and Sweet Streets with Brooke. She also still loves playing Legos with the girls and is getting better about not trying to eat the Lego pieces. She also loves dressing up and will try to put on headbands, glasses and even tutus to be fancy. She also still loves to drape anything soft around her neck like a scarf and then she is so proud to show you how pretty she looks. She also had her first stomach flu – I’ve never had a baby (less than a year old) with the flu… one of my least favorite things. The poor baby was so miserable.
It amazes me how quickly the first year flies by – we had so much fun watching you learn and grow over the past 12 months Emily. You are truly a joy and blessing to our family. We love you so much!

LOVE all the pictures! I know everyone says this, but I REALLY can't believe it's already been a year! And, I still haven't met her! We've gotta change that soon!
