This year we started something that I hope will become a Hansen Family tradition during Easter weekend. A friend of Kyle’s from work, attends a Christian church in the Valley that presents an Easter event called “Journey to the Cross.” It is a walk-through play/reenactment of the Savior’s life through the resurrection. We attended on Friday evening, it was a beautiful night and the performance was amazing.
I am confident that Katelyn and Brooke both have a better understanding of the Easter story after attending this remarkable event. The stories that they’ve heard so many times, became very real to them. I am grateful we had such a neat activity to attend as a family to help us focus on the real purpose we celebrate Easter.
On Easter Sunday, we had a wonderful morning together with our family. The girls loved finding their Easter baskets together and candy-filled eggs.
Emily quickly figured out how to open plastic eggs. She then gave jelly beans a try. She was a big fan. You’ll notice the wet spot on her shirt from this point on… that is jelly bean drool. She put so many beans in at one time that she just couldn’t hold onto all of them as well as she would have liked to. She also figured out that she could suck chocolate out of an unopened wrapper. Good life skills right?
Kyle made his famous caramel crusted French toast for breakfast. He tried a new version for the girls that was Chocolate chip cookie dough flavored. It was amazing and went really well with the jelly beans and chocolate bunnies we ate along with it.
My favorite part of the day however, was attending church together as a family. We spent a lot of time talking about the Easter story prior to Easter Sunday day and it was wonderful to feel that wonderful Spirit as we attended sacrament meeting. It was also wonderful to know that my girls enjoyed the day and understood it’s meaning. When I tucked them in on Sunday night they both said it was the best weekend ever.
