The Day We Camped at Round Lake

So last summer we continued our awesome tradition of going camping with our good friends, The Wills.  We planned ahead and made our reservation in early spring so we could go to one of our favorite spots… Round Lake.

As soon as we got there, we headed for the beach.  It was a beautiful day and everyone had so much fun playing and enjoying this beautiful place together.

We played in the water, on the sand and did lots of jumping off the dock.

We even got to check out a cool turtle that some fellow campers found.  He was cute but super stressed out, so we let him go back to his home in the lake.

Our campfire dinner was lots of fun and tasted even better on our BYU plates – thanks Gram and Pop for the fun tableware.

After dinner we rented canoes and went for a ride.  The kids had lots of fun and were really good because they did not want us to tip over.  Brooke was getting soaked from Kyle’s ore but she didn’t dare move or complain because she didn’t want to end up dumping us all fully clothed into the lake.

After our successful canoe excursion it was time for s’mores and popcorn over the fire.  The popcorn took forever to pop and we nearly burned up one of our towels, but it was yummy and awesome.  There is something about camping makes everything taste just a little better.

We eventually got everyone to go to bed and go to sleep.  Some time during the night, Katelyn woke up with a fever and felt really terrible.  By morning it was worse, so we ended up forgoing our trip to Silverwood and brought her home to get better.  You know your kid is sick if they tell you they don’t feel good enough to go to Silverwood and think just going home is the best plan.

Other than Kate getting sick, we had such a great time and we are so glad we have such wonderful friends to share such great family memories with.  We are already looking forward to next year! (especially since it is only two weeks away!!!)
