One of the advantages of having a lot of trees is that there are A LOT f leaves to play in when fall rolls around. This is also a disadvantage if you are the adults that need to clean them up. But as far as the kids are concerned, our leaves are the greatest.
Last fall, they were so anxious to play in the leaves that they didn’t even mind that we got a late start. We started raking, just as the sun was setting. But that didn’t stop them. The raked…
… some of them contributed more to the pile than others, but everyone had fun prepping the leafy mass.
Then it was time to jump!
Which was followed by more jumping and leaping and throwing and jumping.
When that got old, we moved the pile to the base of the slide and gave that a try.
They loved the slide too and just like the original pile of leaves, it eventually lead to another leaf war. They played until they were frozen and covered in muddy leaf residue and then I made them come inside. I always hate to see summer go, but there are lots of things about fall that rock, and playing in leaves is at the top of that list.
