The Day We Started Our California Adventure

So after two fairly uneventful flights, the Hansen clan arrived safely and on time at LAX. Before we knew it, we had all of our bags and were headed to the Disneyland Hotel. We rode on the the Disneyland Express which meant no car seats and giant bus-sized windows, so the girls were in heaven. My parents got in a few hours ahead of us and were anxiously awaiting our arrival at the Hotel. They watched the girls while we checked in and Katelyn was over-joyed that we had adjoining rooms. Both of the girls would have been completely content to just hang out in the rooms. Brooke also thoroughly enjoyed the clean sliding glass doors. Until she had plenty of finger prints all over them, she ran into the glass at full speed in both rooms. We laughed so hard while she just looked confused and mildly annoyed.
We got unpacked and attempted to let Brookie take a nap but she was ready to play so we headed over to California Adventure for dinner. After dinner we went to "A Bug's Land" where Katelyn rode Flick's Fliers and then we went and lined up for the Electrical Parade. Katelyn missed the parade on her first trip to Disneyland because she was so sick, so I was really excited for her to see it this time. And of course Brooke loves anything with perky music and lights so I knew she'd love it too.
Thanks to the evil genius that is Disney, the girls didn't mind waiting for the parade to start because of the blinking necklaces we bought. Here is some video footage of their fun:

Shortly after the neck hula hoop demonstration from Katelyn, the parade began. It was even better than I remembered.

We all enjoyed watching the parade and Brooke was even more enthralled than I expected. She danced a little and then the tiredness started to overtake her... she ended up in my lap with her binky and quickly became mesmerized by the lights. That resulted in this:When the parade ended it was time for the fireworks display. Katelyn had a great view of show from Pop's shoulders, but Brooke didn't seem too impressed. It was a great start to a wonderful trip! To be continued...

Brooke's passifire cracks me up. My kids are obsessed with hotel rooms as well. It's so nice to have kids so easily entertained. And poor Brooke, can't believe that you all had a laugh at her expense. :)
