So for “Family Night” this week we talked about the importance of making good choices. I had two puzzles for the girls to put together. On the back of each piece there was an example that illustrated someone making either a bad choice or a good choice. When assembled, each puzzle was a car. The red one was in “like new” condition and the green one had been “wrecked” and had damage on each piece. The condition of each car reflected the choices that had been made.
The girls were really into the activity and having a lot of fun with it. One of my favorite moments of the night was when Katelyn read one of the "bad choice” pieces. It said, “After your parents ask you not to watch a bad show on TV, you decide to watch it anyway.” Katelyn immediately told us that was a piece for the green (“bad”) car. So I asked her if she knew what it meant to watch a “bad” show. She assured me that she did and said, “Yeah, it would be like if you are watching a show where someone pollutes a river or something really bad like that.” I love that kid.
As a side note, can I just say that it made me crazy that the red car was the “good” one and green was “bad.” How did the puzzle creators miss the “stop” and “go” color reference that could have been incorporated into the lesson part of the activity…
