The Day Emily Turned 10 Months Old

Emily on Brooke's b-day 1-8-11b

On January 28th, Miss Emily turned 10 months old and weighed 18 pounds 10 ounces.  She spent most of the month trying to keep up with her sisters.  They even started a babysitters club which she loved and was their favorite client.

During the month of January, Emily demonstrated her mastery of the sign for “all done.”  She went from letting us know she was finished eating to using it  in all situations.  If you were playing with her and she was finished or didn’t like what you were doing, she would wave you off.

She also started waving and clapping which were definite crowd pleasers.  She is an attention junkie… she doesn’t care where it comes, as long as she is being adored, she is happy.

She loves reading books and playing peek-a-boo.  She will hide behind anything to get someone to play it with her but she usually ends up peeking.

She still loves to investigate everything and and is always sure to tastes the really gross stuff.  Her eyelashes continue to grow at an unnatural rate – sometimes I use them to sweep the floor.  Her hair on the other hand seems happy to maintain its birth-length.

Emily also worked on some new magic tricks.  She can readily escape from her highchair and rolls forward and backward through the middle splits at will.

She had lots of fun celebrating all of the January birthday at our house.  She was super excited about Kyle’s birthday and added some dance moves to go with the birthday song.

The only downside to Emily’s January was that she decided her first ear infection wasn’t enough.  She ended up with another one and she did not enjoy it.  The good news is that she doesn’t have my penicillin allergy and that seemed to do the trick.

Emily still calls Kyle and I “da da da da da” and “mah mah mah mah mah,” respectively; while Katelyn is “gu gu gu”  and Brooke is “ba ba ba.”  Everything else is usually labeled with a scream or a squeal or both which makes church an adventure.  Emily is our happy little sweetheart and we are having so much fun watching her learn and grow.
