The Day We Celebrated Emily’s 1st Easter

At the ripe old age of one week old, Emily got to enjoy her first holiday at home with her family.  We were so glad when they discharged her from the hospital late the evening before.  The only thing we had to do was take her in for another heel poke to check her Bilirubin count and make sure the number was staying down. 

The day before, Gram helped Brooke and Katelyn dye Easter eggs to prepare for the big day.  Kyle also took them to an Easter Egg hunt at our city park.  The weather was crazy that day but they had such a great time.

Easter Sunday was such a beautiful sunny day.  The kids had fun hunting for eggs and their baskets.  Even though Brooke was sleepy, she made out pretty well.

 

Next up it was time to make deviled eggs to go with the Easter dinner that Kyle was busy making.  The girls loved cooking and we were so glad that Gram was able to stay to celebrate with us.  The eggs turned out great… so good in fact that they became our afternoon snack (along with a lot of jelly beans) instead of a dinner appetizer.

Emily also got to enjoy her first bath at home… there is nothing sweeter than a clean baby.

Kyle’s Easter dinner was amazing and we all ate so much we could hardly move.  Right after dinner, Kyle and I took Emily in for her blood draw while the girls hung out at home with Gram and played with their Zhu Zhu pets.  By the way, those are the best “pets” ever!

It was such a nice relaxing day at home and I was so glad we could watch General Conference together.  The only down side to the day was when we received the call with Emily’s test results.  Her bili number was already climbing quickly, so they said we would need to see her doctor in the morning and have another blood draw to make sure she didn’t need to go back for another stay at the hospital.  We were hopeful that her numbers would slow down by morning and that somehow Gram wouldn’t be able to leave.  The good news is that one of those things actually happened.  To be continued…
