Since last year’s Hardy family get-together was so much fun, we decided to try it again and “Storm Mountain - version 2.0” did not disappoint. With so many schedules to coordinate, we weren’t able to get everyone there, but hope that version 3.0 which is expected to hit launch in the summer of 2012, will have the whole clan together.
Fortunately this year we didn’t encounter any rattlesnakes but there was still plenty of excitement and entertainment for all.
Roasting hot dogs is always a crowd pleaser with this group and Kyle was excited that he got to try the much anticipated brisket from Pat’s Barbeque in Salt Lake. Pat’s was featured on “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” awhile back and Kyle had been looking forward to doing a taste test of his own. Since our schedule was so tight, we combined the brisket event with the canyon activity, so we brought the brisket with us and Kyle warmed his up over the campfire… I imagine that is just how the pioneers did it.
Emily loved her hotdog and also loved eating weird stuff she found on the ground. She also liked having lots of family members around to hold her. Gram was definitely her snuggle buddy.
The little kids had a blast playing together and there was never a dull moment. It is so fun to watch the 2nd generation of cousins play and have so much fun together, the way we did when we were kids.
After some serious play time, it was time for our hike. Everyone did great and their were no accidents or injuries, just lots of laughs and fun.
After the hike the kids did a “show” for us. I didn’t get pictures of all the acts, but these shots of Katelyn and Avery remind me so much of the shows that I did with Paige and Brooke it is almost scary… scary in a good way.
Thanks everyone for another fun get-together. We can’t wait for the next one.
