Spending a fun-filled day at Lagoon is one of our favorite annual activities during our Utah trip, and this year’s visit did not disappoint.
Katelyn was thrilled when she discovered that if she slouched, she could still go on most of the Kiddie rides with Brooke. She recognized that this was her last chance and those two definitely made the most of it. At the beginning of the day, they rode together on everything, but by afternoon, Brooke was riding solo in preparation for next year when she has to show Emily the ropes.
Brooke had no interested in riding the Dinosaur Drop with Katelyn, but her favorite was right next to it. The sign and my memory of this cute little ride called it “Bulgy the Whale.” But after one of Brooke’s rides, I asked her if she had fun on Bulgy and she informed us that she was riding “Princess the Whale.” Of course she was…
We had lots of fun riding and playing…
… and Emily enjoyed relaxing and watching from the sidelines in the shade.
Another tradition of our Lagoon visit is getting to ride in the Go Karts with Pop. Katelyn went first while Brooke and Emily watched from the sidelines.
Then it was time for Brooke’s inaugural Go Kart ride.
She had a blast and so did Emily and Katelyn while they waited.
Everyone humored me and let me take pictures galore.
After lunch, Katelyn was ready to ride some of the “big kid” rides, so we headed to the rollercoasters. She was fearless and I loved riding them with her. But I noticed that the older I get, the more my teeth rattle around during each ride. As long as they don’t actually fall out, I will keep going with her.
Here are some shots of her on The Bat, Colossus, Bombora, the White Rollercoaster and the Tidal Wave.
Brooke had fun during this time too and rode some of her favorites.
Emily was really good about just hanging out and drinking her way through the day. She was tired but it was too exciting for her to sleep… so she didn’t.
She loved watching the musical production with Pop and was a big fan of the wagon we rented. But sleep did not come.
She didn’t even dose off when she went for a stroller ride with Pop while we soared overhead on the Sky Ride.
But eventually, she couldn’t fight it off any longer and she passed out a little before 6:00 p.m. She is hard core, that’s for certain. She only slept about 45 minutes, but it was just enough to take the edge off. She woke up happy and ready to roll. Which was good because her sisters where no where near done.
She was especially perky when it was time for the train ride… but since she didn’t have a hand stamp, we stayed behind and waved to Pop, Katelyn, Brooke and Gram as they went by on the train. She looked like a hummingbird she was flapping her little arm so fast and cheering “choo choo choo choo” as they passed us. While we waited, she played happily on the exit ramp near the station… good times for a new walker, she was in independent heaven.
Emily liked watching the girls drive the bumper cars…
… and found some sketchy water to play in under the gate while her sisters rode the Odysea. She had a different kind of fun than her sisters, but loved Lagoon just as much as the big girls did.
We had such a great day and didn’t leave until they closed the place down. We had the girls change into jammies before we left and Katelyn and Brooke passed out within minutes of the car moving. Exhausted Emily however stayed awake (albeit grouchily) for the whole drive home. Thanks so much Gram and Pop for another great day at Lagoon!

We love Lagoon!! What is it about babies that keep them wide eyed all day at that place? I love that Kaitlynn slouched so she could ride with Brooke. What a great big sister!
