The Day We Celebrated Love

We had such a fun Valentine’s day this year.  It is easy to celebrate love when you wake up to these sweet faces.  The girls were super excited about their mailboxes and ready to PAR-TAY!

After we got Katelyn off to school, we headed to Brooke’s preschool party.  She was excited to take the cookies we made and couldn’t wait to share them with her friends.  She was worried that purple wasn’t “a real Valentine color,” I reassured her that it was an official V-day color and she was thrilled.  A day represented by pink and purple… what could be better in her world?

She had a blast at the party and loved being with her friends and her awesome teachers.  She also liked that all of her buddies ADORED Emily.  Instead of being a third wheel, Emily was the life of the party and Brooke loved being her handler.

Emily made herself right at home and worked the crowd like you wouldn’t believe.  Brooke and all of her little buddies had so much fun and were so well behaved.  Even when they were hopped up on sugar they were good.  It was a really fun party.

After the party we headed home for some food to counteract the sugar OD we’d just taken part in and the girls both took a little cat nap.  Then we headed over to Katelyn’s party.  Just as we headed out the door it started snowing!  They were giant flakes and the girls thought it was great.  We stopped for a picture in the parking lot but it looked more like fuzz on my lens than snow.

Katelyn was so happy to see us!  In fact the first thing she said to me was, “Mom, thank you guys so much for coming!”  I was so glad she wanted us there.  She has a really great class this year and it was fun to visit with everyone.  Most of the kids are the youngest in their families so they think Katelyn’s little sisters are the best.  They had an ice cream sundae bar set up in their classroom… Katelyn said it was the best day ever.

We had a nice afternoon and were ready to celebrate when Kyle got home.  We were having Outback takeout (our favorite) but the girls started with Valentine waffles complete with sprinkles and red Crush.

After dinner it was present time… the girls had fun  and loved their goodies.  Kyle was also very pleased with his treats.  The Bacon Chocolate candy bar and the Torani Bacon syrup were his favorites though.

Emily just jumps in and has fun.  That is one thing I love about this age… they know how to just play along and go with whatever is going on.  She loved her little mailbox and when she found the Bubble Guppy valentines inside she was ecstatic!

It was such a fun day.  I love that there is a day devoted to celebrating the people we love.  Even though we aren’t near all of our loved ones, I am so grateful for all of the wonderful family and friends we have in our lives.  Happy Valentine’s Day!
