The girls were so excited to discover that their bed in our hotel room was a triple bunk bed like they had always talked about. I knew they would be thrilled and thought Emily would be ecstatic to sleep in a real bed rather than a crib or pack and play. She didn't say much about it during the day and when it was time for bed she was less than thrilled. She didn't even want to get in her special bed. I was so confused but after some convincing, she nervously got in and snuggled under her covers. Relieved that she was finally flat, I said, "Emily, do you like sleeping in this special bed with Katelyn and Brooke"? To which she nervously replied, "Mom, are you going to close my drawer?"
She was worried that her neatly tucked away trundle bed (which she affectionately called her drawer) would have to be closed once she was in it. I reassured her that we only "closed the drawer" when she wasn't in it and then she was happy. The girls loved their cool bed and Katelyn and Brooke rotated beds each night because the top bunk was as they said, "extra awesome."
Once Emily understood how a drawer bed worked, she embraced it completely. One afternoon when she was feeling extra worn out, she actually asked to go take a nap in her drawer. We obliged.
Two thumbs up to the Disneyland Resort on having such awesome beds for kids. They don't miss a trick at that place.
