For our second day of fun, we decided to take advantage of our early entry into California Adventure to see the all new Cars Land. We knew that getting there early was key to riding the critically acclaimed Radiator Springs Racers without waiting in line for two hours. So we got up, got ready and got out the door early, but it was not early enough. It always amazes me how they get us to willingly stand in a line to get in line to go stand in another line. Geniuses.
Once we got in the park, we headed straight for Radiator Springs. They truly brought the Cars movie to life in this little town. Waiting in line to ride the Racers wasn’t actually that bad because of all the details they included in the landscape. The wall embedded with old colored glass bottles was our favorite. It was beautiful. The other beautiful thing is what Disney calls the Rider Switch Pass. If someone in your group is too little to ride, one adult can stay behind with that child while your group rides the ride and then using the Switch Pass, two riders can get in the Fast Pass lane as soon as your group exits the ride and hands off the pass. I was sad Emily was to short to ride the Racers, but thanks to her, we rode that ride more times than we could count.
In my opinion, this ride is exceptional. The views were amazing, the story-telling was clever and the race at the end was really fun.
We couldn’t get over the beautiful scenery and loved watching our car get spiffed up for the race.
We even won our race!
As soon as we exited the ride, Katelyn took Kyle on it with our Switch Pass and the rest of us headed over to check out Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree.
My first thought was “tilt-a-whirl in a tractor,” but it really is fun. Mater cracks jokes the whole time and Emily loved watching us almost crash over and over.
Right after the ride we went and got Fast Passes for the Racers so we could try the ride at night – it’s in places like this that my compulsion to over-plan things actually pays off.
Next my mom and I took the girls over to visit A Bug’s Land. Emily was amazed and loved checking everything out. The bug sounds coming from the bushes had her a little nervous but she thought it was so cool that everything was so big and we were the size of bugs.
After spending a fun-filled morning with Cars and Bugs, we were ready to go have lunch with the princesses!
