The Day We Explored New Hampshire

Our adventure in New Hampshire started out in North Conway at the North Conway Grand Hotel.  When I found this hotel on-line I was so excited that I found the cute one… little did I know that everything in New Hampshire is cute. 

When we checked in at 10 p.m., the girl at the front desk was so impressed (and thought we were a little crazy) when she found out that we traveled all the way from Washington State to New Hampshire in one day with two kids.  They were really nice to us and just loved the girls.  In the lobby they had giant stuffed animals all over.  Brooke loved the “giant reindeer” (actually a giant moose), the “sweet puppies” (actually wolves) and Conway the bear.  Here they are with Virginia Woolf and Leavitt the Beaver.

We enjoyed an amazing breakfast at the hotel and then the girls got to go for a ride on the luggage cart.  It was a fantastic hotel! 

North Conway is famous for is gigantic and very upscale outlet village, so we checked that out and then as a reward for the girls they got to play on the playground back at the hotel.

 

 

They also enjoyed exploring the grounds at the hotel and checking out the flowers and fall decorations.

This was one of my personal favorites – it looked like pink and purple lettuce!  It was amazing!

Just before we checked out, the hotel manager gave each of the girls their very own stuffed Monty the Moose wearing a North Conway Grand Hotel t-shirt.  They were so excited and Kyle was thrilled to add two more stuffed animals to our luggage. 

 

On our drive out of town we stopped in to see the Christmas Loft and the famous Zeb’s Country Store – seriously, everything in this town is so cute!

Then, we grabbed some KFC and headed into the White Mountain National Park.  The leaves were at their peak – their bright colors were so striking against the white rocks.

 

Our first stop and picnic lunch was at the Lower Falls.

Then we went to see Rocky Gorge.  Katelyn loved all the hiking and rock climbing – Brooke’s favorite part was riding on Kyle’s shoulders while holding onto his cheekbones.

Our last stop was at Sabbaday Falls and included more great views and fun hiking.  The girls were in heaven and never seemed to slow down... until we got into the car.

 

After a full afternoon of exploration and fun, it was time to drive to Littleton, New Hampshire.  Within seconds of starting the drive, this is what the backseat looked like.  The girls passed out completely… it was a peaceful drive.

That night we enjoyed swimming at the hotel while Kyle went out and found pizza and salads for dinner.  We had a fun picnic in our room (because everyone was too tired to move) and we thought the girls would sleep very well.  Wrong again.  Apparently their nap on the road fully recharged their batteries and it took them over two hours to go to sleep!
