The Day Before We Headed Home

After all the excitement of the towing incident and Kyle’s successful van rescue mission, we continued along the Freedom trail to see more of historic Boston.

USS Constitution 10-9-09We toured the naval museum and the beautiful USS Constitution.  We also had a chance to see the USS Cassin-Young but opted for the external view so that we could get the gets to the much anticipated Children’s museum.  After more than a week of seeing grown-up stuff, they had definitely earned their reward.

The Children’s Museum did not disappoint.  We started with the bubble room, which the kids loved.  Katelyn’s favorite was the bubble hoop that you could stand inside and pull up to make a bubble shell around you.  Brooke’s favorite was any bubble that didn’t end up in her eyes.

Every section of this museum was amazing and the girls loved every minute of it.

One of their favorites we happened upon near the end of our afternoon at the museum.  It was a touch screen dance floor game that would light up with different colored marks while the kids ran around like crazy people trying to stomp on their individual color.  Brooke just loved the crazy person on a dance floor part, but Katelyn was crazy good at the game.  She and another girl who was about 4 years older than her kept going head to head.  Katelyn is quite wily, like her old man and the girl definitely has some dance moves to boot.  She kept beating the older girl, but I think having Brooke run synchronized interference on the dance floor helped out too.

We had a wonderful time on our trip and are so glad we got to do something so fun with Grandma Carol.   Thank you Carol for coming with us – we can’t wait to do it again!
