The Day We Went to the Zoo

So on Saturday morning, we had a chance to go to the zoo before Dane and Jacque's wedding that night.  It started out being pleasant weather and not too hot, but by the time we all arrived and were ready to start checking out the animals, it was hot!  Hot enough that most of the animals looked like their taxidermied friends at Cabella's. 

For starters, Katelyn, Brooke and Carter kept themselves entertained and cool by playing with the giant water-ball at the zoo's entrance.

 

 

 

 

 

This was Brooke's 1st trip to the zoo, so I was really excited to see her reaction. 

She loves animals so I knew she'd love the zoo, and she did, but she loved the carrousel and the snow cones the most. 

 

Since  the animals weren't very active I actually think watching a Baby Einstein DVDs about animals might have been more exciting.  But it was still so much fun to watch her reaction to everything - most of the animals were "cows" when you asked her and they all said "moo" or "grrrr." 

Katelyn had a great time too - she loved the animals but her favorite part was spending time with Grandma Carol and so many of her aunts, uncles and cousins.   Here she is with Carter trying on some fun hats we found at the safari store. 

Jaleese made sure Katelyn could see at the elephant show and aunt Jill was Katelyn's personal taxi when ever she got tired of walking.

She also loved having Bug, Calvin, Krista, Taylor and Carter to hang out with.  Everything is more fun when you are with your cousins.  They don't get to be together very often, but when they are, they have a great time! 

 

 

 

 

Just like her little sister, Katelyn loved riding the carrousel too.   Here she is riding with Aunt Rani and Calvin and on her second ride with Carter and Uncle Derrick.

One of our favorite parts was a nice shady spot we found by the carrousel... it was the perfect spot for snow cones and lots of laughs.  We don't get to be together very often, but when we do we have so much fun!  Here's to a great day at the zoo - Hansen Family style!
