The Day We Went to Glacier

After an amazing thunder storm the night before and a wonderful night's sleep, we woke up to start our Glacier Park adventure. The cabin had everything we needed (and then some)... everything from cute moose dishes, to two floors of bliss for the kids. In fact it was so much fun that Brooke and Katelyn were both ready to spend the entire day simply playing in the cabin and were disappointed when we told them we were getting ready to head out. They quickly became ok with the plan when they saw some of the amazing things the park had in store for us. The vintage open air tour buses were really cool, but we were all glad that we were in our warm mini-van since it was cool that morning.

When we made our first stop, Brooke was already asleep but the rest of us enjoyed the spectacular view - my dad even met a fellow Kansas City Chiefs fan, so the morning was off to a great start.

By our next stop, Brooke was awake and ready to check out all of the sights. She and Katelyn especially loved walking on all of the neat pathways that went in and out of the trees. It was a beautiful sunny day and the views were spectacular. The glaciers were amazing but Katelyn and Brooke loved exploring more than anything else. It was so fun to watch them "discover" everything.

Our next stop was for a lunch break. Kyle found a nice secluded area by the water, so it was an instant success. We enjoyed a nice lunch and then taught Katelyn how to skip rocks. You can see that when Kyle stood behind her and "coached" her, she did really well. Brooke didn't try skipping rocks... instead she tried to taste a few and then decided they were fun to show to Gram. It was such a relaxing and serene place - we had a lot of fun and somehow got two very reluctant little girls back in the van. They would have stayed there all afternoon but I reminded Katelyn about the cabin, so she decided it would be ok to leave and Brooke does what ever her big sister does, so we were set.

Next, we were headed to the Canadian side of the park, but that deserves a post all of its own. So we finished up our day with our field photographer (Kyle) taking a few more shots, and then enjoyed a great dinner at the lodge followed by Brooke dancing to the piano in the lobby and entertaining everyone.

When we finally made it back to the cabin, everyone was exhausted, but the girls still managed to harness plenty of "crazy" and play for awhile. It was a great day - stay tuned for our adventures in Canada eh?
