The Day We Decorated the Tree

Kate & Brooke decorating the tree 12-3-10bOne of my favorite nights of the year is when we decorate the Christmas tree.  The girls were excited too and could hardly wait to get started.

We started the evening out with pizza and root beer while we watched the Phineas and Ferb Christmas special.

Brooke & Kate pizza night 12-3-10After pizza and lots of laughs with the show, it was time to start decorating.  Each year, the girls get a new ornament.  This year, Brooke and Katelyn both got ballerinas.  Katelyn’s was purple (they didn’t have a blue one) holding a lollipop and Brooke’s was pink holding a sparkly candy cane.  They loved them.

Emily's 1st Christmas ornament 12-3-10Emily got the Lenox “Baby’s 1st Christmas” porcelain rocking horse ornament.  She was stoic about it at first, but once she tasted the box, she was thrilled…

The girls also each got two cute little snowmen ornaments with their names on them.  The girls loved that one set of the snowmen had a switch that made them lite up.  That one was a huge hit with all three of them.

Next it was time to start putting ornaments on the tree.  Katelyn and Brooke were super excited to use the step stools and Emily was thrilled tasting all of them prior to hanging and thought banging them together was a lot of fun.

Best ornament ever 12-3-10I got the ornaments out for the girls but they did almost all of the decorating and loved every minute of it.  The only ornament that I hung up, was my diet coke ornament from Stacey.  It is at the very top of our tree, right under the star – as it should be.

When everything was finally on the tree, Brooke got to sit on Daddy’s shoulders and place the star.  It was a great start to a wonderful Christmas season.

Loved this post! I especially loved the Diet Coke ornament. This year it would be appropriate for me to dedicate an entire tree to that wonderful drink. It's gotten me through so much the past 5 months. I'm ashamed to admit how many I actually drank today.....
Hope you are doing well!
