This year we decided to make a gingerbread village instead of one big house. The girls loved the change and we thrilled to be able to do their own thing on their houses. As usual, Emily was just trilled to be along for the ride.
While we waited for the walls to dry, we did our traditional reading of The Gingerbread Girl – it is such a cute story and the girls really enjoy it. When we were done reading, it was time to start decorating, but Emily had an agenda of her own.
Somehow, a chocolate covered pretzel had made its way onto the flow and during all the excitement no one noticed. No one except Emily that is. When ever she is quiet for very long, we know something is afoot. And afoot it was… she found that pretzel and latched on with all her might. I think she knew her joy would be short lived so she made every second count as you can see by her face and shirt.
After all that excitement we went back to decorating and eating of course. Gone are the days where they need my help – they can work a Wilton pastry bag like pros.
The girls had a blast and their houses turned out great. I love fun holiday traditions with cute little girls.
