Part of the fun of heading to the San Juan Islands was taking the girls on their first ferry ride. They had lots of questions while we waited to board and couldn’t believe we got to take the van on the boat. Once we were on the ferry, they had a great time exploring.
Emily loved running all over the place. She was in crazy 16 month old heaven.
The only downside was that it was really foggy. You actually couldn’t see anything. But about half way into the trip, the fog started to lift and then within minutes, it was completely gone.
It turned into a beautiful sunny ferry ride and we had a great view of the islands.
After a fun day on Orcas Island, it was time for another ferry ride back to Anacortes. The trip back was beautiful and we spent almost the entire time out on the deck enjoying the view and the sunshine.
The other cool thing was that there was a crazy good violinist practicing on the ferry. He was playing in a partially enclosed area, so the acoustics were fantastic. The girls watched and listened for a few minutes but then decided to move back outside and dance to his amazing music. They had the entire deck to themselves and put it to good use.
Just as our ferry ride was coming to an end, I asked the girls about day. They were talking about how much they loved everything and how cool the ferry boat was. Brooke got quiet after that though and I could tell something was on her mind. I asked her if the ferry boat was as cool as she thought it would be and she said, “Well, it was really fun, but I thought there would at least be a pink and purple flag with a fairy on it somewhere.” Bless her heart… she thought we were going on a fairy boat.
Here is a video of the girls dancing on the deck. They get their moves from their dad.

I have to admit, when you said they get their moves from their dad, I expected some pretty bad dancing (sorry Kyle!). But they looked so cute! I think one of the best parts of the video was seeing Katelyn taking her own footage on her touch. :)
