The Day We Made Trax

For years my mom and I have talked about talking the girls to the Lion House and to tour the Beehive House.  We decided to ride Trax and it was a big hit.

After the tour, we walked next door to The Pantry for a bit to eat.  We’d already had lunch and it wasn’t even close to dinner time, so we did the only thing we could thing of… we ordered pie, cheesecake and some of their famous rolls and honey butter.

It was so amazing that we did what we had to do and ordered two more rounds of rolls.  We couldn’t get enough.

Then we walked around the grounds next to temple square.  It was such a beautiful day, with my favorite ladies.

Brooke singing in the station 7-23-11Since our first trip to the Gateway was such a success, the girls wanted to walk over to play in the fountain again.  On the way there we made a pit stop at the Union Pacific train station.  The building has been beautifully restored and has a shiny floor and fantastic acoustics, so while Brooke waited with Gram for the rest of us, she couldn’t help herself, she had to sing and dance.  Unbeknownst to her, other people were listening and a woman actually approached my mom and asked if she could give her voice lessons.  When she found out about the drive to Spokane, she rescinded her offer, but Brooke felt proud just the same.

The fountain was a huge hit again and a welcomed relief on such a hot day.

The Trax ride home was a fun way to end our adventure and I was glad I didn’t have to drive.  We were all exhausted but somehow, everyone managed to stay awake.  As soon as Emily got in her car seat though, she passed out cold.  She was tired enough that even when we made it home she transferred from the car to Pop’s shoulder and actually STAYED asleep.  Emily has never been one to embrace “car to house transfer sleep.”  It was a perfect end to a perfect day!
