During our adventure in Seattle, we visited one of our favorite places – The Butterfly House in the Pacific Science Center. It is so fun to walk around and see all of the beautiful butterflies up close.
Emily LOVED this activity. She liked the butterflies, the flowers and even the signs. There were so many things to point at that she didn’t know what to do with all of her excitement.
Katelyn loved taking pictures this time and tried so hard to capture a photo of her favorite butterfly (the blue one of course). They were everywhere, but she had to get them in flight because when they land they always close their wings and don a brown camouflage patter on the outside. During her hunt, she discovered a butterfly emerging out of his/her cocoon. The process was amazing to watch.
Brooke also loved the butterfly exhibit and unbeknownst to me had prepared herself thoroughly to make it an extra special trip. Earlier that morning we had pancakes at the hotel. Brooke has a tendency to wear some of her syrup and this meal was no exception. It didn’t get on her clothes, but it was in her hair. One of her pigtails was crunchy because in an attempt to clean it herself, she’d made matters worse. Turns out, it worked in her favor. She was a walking butterfly dessert buffet. She was coated in syrup and had colorful hair ribbons to boot. The butterflies landed on her and didn’t want to leave.
After the butterflies found Brooke, they discovered Emily too. They loved her bright pink shirt and landed on her right shoulder, but the odds of her having some sticky sweet food on her too were pretty good.
